Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Jan. 12, 2022.

The regulations were published for comments due Jan. 16^th. LeadingAge NY is seeking member feedback on the regulations.

The comments to the Public Health and Health Planning Council request changes in regulations governing personal/compassionate caregiving visitation and staff vaccination mandates. They also highlight the staffing shortages faced by long term care providers and reiterate flaws in the nursing home minimum hours and minimum direct care spending regulations.

DOH issued a letter on Oct. 29^th extending the blanket waiver of electronic prescribing requirements for nursing homes. The new blanket waiver supersedes the previous waiver and is effective from Nov. 1, 2021 through Oct. 31, 2022.

Providers should take advantage of the limited time available to have their transformation grant questions answered.

In the past week, LeadingAge NY has written to the Governor's Secretary for Health and the DOH Executive Deputy Commissioner on staffing issues, presented to the Public Health and Health Planning Council, and reached out to high-level DOH staff about federal strike team and infrastructure project funding for nursing homes. LeadingAge NY is also convening a joint cabinet workforce task force.
