LeadingAge National summarizes FY21 HUD request, which would eliminate the HOME and CDBG programs and the national Housing Trust Fund; essentially eliminate public housing as we know it today; cut homeless assistance grants; and fail to provide enough funding for voucher renewals in FY21.

Guidance clarifies “how housing providers can comply with the Fair Housing Act when assessing a person’s request to have an animal in housing to provide assistance because of a disability.”

Given the number of Section 202 communities with PRACs that requested larger rent increases to prepare for recapitalization in FY 2019, HUD plans to develop new guidance for HUD staff to evaluate these requests and prioritize those properties with the greatest need.

HUD is asking organizations to volunteer to participate in the Demonstration of its National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate model.

Applications are due by Jan. 17, 2020.

As the House and Senate move toward finalizing the FY 2020 HUD appropriations bill, urge your representatives to retain the House’s $140 million for new Section 202 homes.
