Action Alert: Ask Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to Join Section 202 Support Letter

LeadingAge National has reported that Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) is once again leading a letter to the Senate’s Committee on Appropriations in support of robust funding for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Section 202 and 811 programs in the fiscal year (FY) 2023 HUD appropriations bills and is asking aging services stakeholders to encourage their senators to join.

Importantly, Senator Menendez’s letter asks appropriators for $600 million for capital and operating subsidies for about 6,200 new Section 202 homes as Congress begins developing the bills. As of April 29th, 18 senators had signed on to the letter, with neither Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) nor Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) among them.

Read the full letter here, and use this action alert platform by May 10th to easily ask Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to add their support.
