Upcoming HUD Trainings and Webinars to Offer Guidance to New and Experienced Affordable Housing Providers

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has announced several training and webinar sessions covering a range of topics for current and prospective affordable multifamily senior housing providers and developers.

Webinar on Affordable Housing Development for Newer Nonprofits

HUD has announced a webinar to be held on Nov. 9th from 12 to 1 p.m. ET for small, newer, or prospective non-profit developers of affordable rental housing. This program is intended to help newer and prospective developers understand the development timeline as well as potential project challenges and funding sources.

Following HUD’s remarks, two experienced local developers will be given the opportunity to share how they successfully completed projects in their communities, the barriers they experienced, and how they overcame them.

In-Person “NSPIRE Get Ready” Sessions to Be Held Nationwide

Additionally, in-person “Get Ready” sessions on the Real Estate Assessment Center's (REAC) new National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) protocol for physical inspections will prepare HUD-assisted housing providers, residents, HUD field staff, inspectors, and other housing stakeholders for the shift to HUD’s new physical inspection protocol, including by clarifying the new scoring model and the NSPIRE timeline.

This series will run from Oct. 31st to Feb. 14th and will be presented in each Multifamily HUD Region at least once, including a session in New York scheduled for Feb. 7th. LeadingAge is encouraging members to register here; each session has limited capacity.

LeadingAge members can also join LeadingAge National’s monthly workgroup on REAC and Management and Occupancy Reviews (MORs) by emailing Juliana Bilowich at jbilowich@leadingage.org.

202 NOFO Webinars and Resources

As a reminder, HUD’s Section 202 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) team has held several webinars over recent weeks on the $175 million NOFO for capital advances and Project Rental Assistance Contracts (PRACs).
