NYSIIS and CIR Reporting of COVID Vaccinations No Longer Mandatory for Individuals Age 19 and Over

During the initial vaccination stages for COVID in 2021, an executive order (EO) mandated that all COVID vaccines administered in NYS be reported to the NYS Immunization Information System (NYSIIS) (outside of NYC reporting tool) or the Citywide Immunization Registry (CIR) (NYC reporting tool) regardless of age or consent status.

With the expiration of that EO back in 2021, COVID vaccinations in NYS are now reported just like all other immunizations. Immunizations administered to individuals age 18 years and younger must be reported to NYSIIS or CIR. Immunizations administered to individuals age 19 years and older may be reported to NYSIIS or CIR, but must require patient consent.
