Federal and State Staff Vaccine Mandates Still in Place for Now

LeadingAge NY members should note that despite Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) statements indicating an end to the federal staff COVID-19 vaccine mandate for providers subject to federal conditions of participation, the mandate is still currently in place. After the federal mandate is rescinded, NY providers must still comply with NY's health care staff vaccine mandate. LeadingAge NY staff will be sure to report on the status of both mandates as soon as any actions have taken place.

Providers seeking clinical information regarding the new Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-recommended single bivalent vaccine are encouraged to access the recording of the CDC Clinician Outreach and Communication Activity (COCA) webinar held May 11th and the CDC’s Interim Clinical Considerations, which include COVID-19 vaccine schedules for several populations. Providers may allow staff to work immediately after the single bivalent vaccine. Staff who received the first of two monovalent doses and who cannot access that vaccine may receive the bivalent vaccine eight weeks after that initial monovalent dose.
