The CDC will host a webinar on Jan. 27^th that will “provide the latest information on how to prevent and respond to respiratory infections and outbreaks in LTC facilities, including how to recognize a sick resident, considerations for testing, treatment, and vaccination, and infection prevention and control measures.” The agency also continues to update resources on respiratory infections that will be helpful for nursing homes and other providers in addressing flu, COVID, and RSV outbreaks this winter.

Individuals age 6 months and older are now recommended to undertake shared decision-making with a clinician when considering whether to receive a COVID vaccination.

ACIP now recommends COVID-19 vaccination for adults aged 65 and older and younger individuals only through shared decision-making with their health care providers.

The NYS Health Commissioner has issued standing orders for all four of the 2025-26 COVID vaccines. Medicare will cover the vaccines under Part B.
