Study Finds Relationship Between Sex and Race/Ethnicity in Pressure Injury Incidence Among Nursing Home Residents

An analysis of national MDS data reveals that within nursing homes, women who are Black, American Indian, or Alaskan Native have a higher incidence of pressure injury than non-Hispanic White women, while men who are racial and ethnic minorities have a lower pressure injury incidence than non-Hispanic White men.

Brown University Researchers Seek Nursing Home Leaders for Study on Caring for Residents with Opioid Use Disorders

The researchers are interested in conducting one-hour interviews with nursing home administrators, directors of nursing, and directors of admissions about their experiences in serving residents with opioid use disorders.

Study Finds I-SNP Engagement Linked to Increased Hospice Utilization in Nursing Homes with 50 or More Beds

The study, led by the MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care in collaboration with LeadingAge NY, found that nursing home engagement with I-SNPs is associated with higher hospice enrollment, except in small nursing homes with under 50 beds. The findings suggest that I-SNPs and hospice may be working together in most nursing homes that offer their residents both types of programs.  The study was funded by the Patrick and Catherine Weldon Donaghue Medical Research Foundation.
