Minimum Data Set Relief

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced on March 19th that the draft changes to the Minimum Data Set (MDS) item sets due Oct. 1, 2020 have been delayed. This is good news with respect to the issue of the removal of Section G. Section G not only calculates Resource Utilization Group (RUG) scores, but also influences the calculation of the staffing domain of the Five-Star Quality Rating System. The announcement from the Quality Improvement and Evaluation System (QIES) Technical Support Office is available here.
