DOH Issues Heat Advisory

The Department of Health (DOH) has issued a Heat Advisory to nursing homes. During periods of high heat and humidity, nursing homes should take measures to ensure that residents are safe and take precautions to protect residents against heat-related illnesses. Additionally, facilities should ensure that their generator is in good operating order in the event of an unexpected power outage.

The Advisory outlines signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses. Staff should become familiar with how to recognize these signs and symptoms, as well as preventative measures to take to safeguard residents.
