CMS Posts Provider Training Module

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has posted a training module specifically for Long Term Care (LTC) providers that focuses on the new survey process. The presentation provides an introduction to new regulatory reform, key changes to the survey process, the rationale behind the changes to the survey process, and the basic steps in the survey process that are important to the LTC provider.

On Nov. 28, 2017, all survey agencies nationwide will begin using a single survey process, incorporating features of both the Traditional Survey and the Quality Indicator Survey (QIS). The new process is data-driven, like the QIS, but does allow greater surveyor input into the sample selection, relies heavily on interviewing, and utilizes several new and revised Critical Element Pathways (CE) to determine compliance.
