Center for Health Workforce Studies Still Gathering Provider Surveys

The Center for Health Workforce Studies (CHWS) at the School of Public Health, University at Albany will be ground mailing a one-page survey this week to those nursing homes and home care providers that have not submitted completed responses. LeadingAge NY worked with CHWS on the survey questions, which focus on workforce recruitment and retention, and is encouraging its member nursing homes and home care agencies to timely complete and return the survey by fax (518-402-0252) or ground mail in the postage-paid envelope enclosed with the survey.

CHWS monitors annual health care employment trends in the state of New York and annually issues a report of its findings. Their most recent report, The Health Care Workforce in New York, 2015-2016: Trends in the Supply and Demand for Health Workers can be found on their website.

The primary purpose of these brief surveys is to better understand the current recruitment and retention problems faced by nursing homes and home care agencies. Your individual answers to the survey will be kept strictly confidential, though your responses will be aggregated and reported at regional and state levels. The one-page survey should take 5-10 minutes to complete.

The nursing home survey is due back by Nov. 10, 2017, and the home care survey is due Nov. 17, 2017. Your participation will contribute to increased understanding of current and emerging health workforce issues in New York. The final report will be released at the end of this year and will be available on CHWS’s website.
