SNF PPS Comments Due by May 28th

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is accepting comments on the proposed Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Prospective Payment System (PPS) Rule until May 28th. The SNF PPS Rule is the vehicle through which CMS updates Medicare Part A rates and makes policy changes to SNF initiatives like Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) and the Quality Reporting Program (QRP). A key issue this year is a proposal to provide flexibility for surveyors to impose greater sanctions for survey findings. CMS is also requesting input specifically on potential updates to the non-therapy ancillary component of the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) rate.

A summary of key provisions is available here. Please let us know if you have concerns or suggestions regarding these or other proposals in the rule. If you intend to submit comments directly to CMS, LeadingAge National has developed a helpful resource that is available here.
