Medicare Part A Cost Report Webcast
On Thurs., April 29th from 1 to 2:30 p.m., the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will host a webcast for Medicare Part A providers regarding Medicare Cost Reports. Providers will have the opportunity to learn about the new user-friendly upload features for the Medicare Cost Report e-Filing (MCReF) system. New features include:
- Submitting documents without turning them into ZIP files
- Tagging documents
- Getting alerts about missing documents
Use MCReF to:
- Submit cost reports (individually or in bulk) with fiscal years (FYs) ending on or after Dec. 31, 2017
- Track the status of cost reports with FYs ending after Dec. 31, 2009

Members should also be aware that CMS has extended the deadline for submitting 2020 Medicare Cost Reports by two months. For providers operating on a FY ending Dec. 31st, their 2020 Medicare Cost Report is due Aug. 2, 2021 instead of June 1st. Organizations with FYs ending in September must file by April 30th, the October FY due date is June 1st, and those with a FY ending in November have until June 30th.
