CMS Approves Supplemental Payment

The Department of Health (DOH) has confirmed that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has approved an amendment to the Medicaid State Plan to allow for an additional 1 percent supplemental payment to be made to nursing homes effective Nov. 1, 2020. The funding is generated by cash receipts assessments payments made by nursing homes and was previously used to help fund the Universal Settlement distributions, which ended last year. While DOH is contemplating making lump sum payments late in the year, given the continuing financial challenges faced by providers, we are advocating for expedited funding and will keep members apprised of developments.
