DOH and NYCDHMH Webinar Provides Update on Candida auris Epidemiology

On Jan. 16, 2019, LeadingAge NY, in partnership with the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS), Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA), New York State Health Facilities Association (NYSHFA), and New York State Association for Professionals in Infection Control, co-hosted a webinar for hospitals and nursing homes, “Lessons Learned: An Update on Candida auris Epidemiology,” with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) and New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYCDHMH).

The focus of the webinar was on the emergence and spread of C. auris in the United States, New York State’s effort to combat C. auris resistance, and recommendations on infection control and prevention. For recommendations specific to long term care settings, DOH and NYCDHMH referenced DOH’s “Transmission-Based Precautions in Long-Term Care Facilities” resource, which can be accessed here.

Slides from the webinar are available here.
