Recording Available Now: LeadingAge Hosts Overview of HUD FY 2023 Section 202 Funding Opportunity
On March 25th, LeadingAge hosted a special edition of its weekly Housing Network call to provide an overview of the current Section 202 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The call recording and slides are now available for members to view here.
During the session, experts shared insights on the current (Fiscal Year (FY) 2023) application round for Section 202 funding to create new affordable senior housing units. Applications are due by June 20, 2024. The call featured discussions on what is different this year over last year’s Section 202 funding opportunity, best practices for applying, how HUD rates applications and awards the funding, and how housing providers are bringing these kinds of projects to completion. Participants also discussed advocacy opportunities to revive the program after Congress omitted new Section 202 funding from HUD’s budget for FY 2024 and the President’s budget request declined to include new funds for FY 2025.
