HUD Updates on Fourth Round of COVID-19 Supplemental Payments

As has been previously reported, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has implemented a temporary reimbursement process called COVID-19 Supplemental Payments (CSPs) to offset costs related to COVID-19. Last week, HUD announced its fourth and likely final round of CSPs. Requests for these funds are due to HUD by Nov. 19th for COVID-19 costs incurred by Multifamily Housing providers (Project-Based Section 8, Section 202, and Section 811) prior to Oct. 31st. LeadingAge National is encouraging every affordable housing member to submit at least a standard payment request to HUD for access to these funds.

Relevant Deadlines for Requesting Reimbursement for Incurred Costs:

  • Costs must have been incurred prior to Oct. 31, 2021.
  • Providers must request reimbursement using the correct HUD form prior to Nov. 19, 2021.

The CSPs can include costs associated with both off- and on-site vaccine and testing access for residents. Other eligible expenses include extra staffing, personal protective equipment (PPE), and even capital costs related to ventilation and internet access. An article from LeadingAge National reviewing eligible and ineligible expenses is available here.

Additionally, members should plan to join next week’s LeadingAge Housing Advisory Group Call on Oct. 4th at 12:30 p.m. During the call, LeadingAge National will be joined by HUD staff to discuss CSP requests and any outstanding questions. To join the Housing Advisory Group, please email Linda Couch at lcouch@leadingage.org or Juliana Bilowich at jbilowich@leadingage.org. If members have specific questions or concerns that must be addressed, please send them to Juliana, as she will be compiling questions for HUD staff.
