HUD Publishes "Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act" Rule for Comment
On Sept. 17, 2019, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) published a proposed rule entitled "Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act of 2016: Implementation of Sections 102, 103, and 104." Generally referred to as "HOTMA," the proposed rule signals a major step toward long-awaited implementation of certification burden-reducing changes to verification thresholds for calculating income from assets, medical expense deductions, upfront elderly allowances, and more.
Comments are due by Nov. 18th and may be submitted either through the Federal eRulemaking Portal or by mail to:
