HUD, HHS Expand Availability of Free COVID Tests to All HUD-Assisted Providers

After an initial rollout to only Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly communities, the U.S. Departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Health and Human Services (HHS) are now allowing all HUD-assisted multifamily housing providers to order weekly shipments of COVID tests for residents, staff, service providers, volunteers, and other partners. Earlier this year, LeadingAge National urged the White House to give HUD owners access to free COVID tests, but HUD limited the initial program to just Section 202 providers. The expansion of the free test kits to Section 8, Section 811, and Section 236 communities is welcome news to LeadingAge National and LeadingAge NY. HUD-assisted owners can order as many kits as they wish, to be delivered on a weekly basis. For more information, and to place orders, click here.
