HUD and HPD to Hold Forum on 202 Preservation

The demand for independent senior housing is projected to increase dramatically in the coming years. Yet, the HUD Section 202 Program, which for decades was the main source of funding for affordable senior housing, stopped issuing new capital advances in 2011.

Officials of HUD's Multi-Family Division and the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development are jointly holding a forum to discuss opportunities to develop, preserve, and expand senior housing in New York City. The forum will cover preservation and new construction opportunities, including opportunities for development on vacant land of existing developments, as new zoning regulations allow.

The forum will be held on Thurs., Jan. 12th, from 12-2 p.m., on the 36th Floor of 26 Federal Plaza (4/5/6 to Brooklyn Bridge; R/W to City Hall; 1/2/3A/C to Chambers).
