CMS Issues FAQ for Medicare Advantage Plans

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document recently to help states and Medicare Advantage organizations better coordinate Medicaid benefits and Medicare supplemental benefits, especially those offered through Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs).

The document addresses questions relating to the scope of supplemental benefits, issues involving overlapping Medicaid and Medicare benefits, who pays first, delivery system differences between fee-for-service (FFS) Medicaid and Medicare Advantage, and coverage issues between Fully Integrated Dual Eligible (FIDE) SNPs and Medicare Advantage.
