LeadingAge NY reviews the bills that were passed during the 2022 Legislative Session, distinguishing which have been approved, which have been vetoed, and which are still awaiting action.

LeadingAge NY has scheduled its third Public Affairs Council meeting for Thurs., Dec. 15^th at 11 a.m. If you have not already done so, please ensure that you or a colleague in your organization has signed up to join the Council! Participation in the Council is a critical way to ensure that we are sending a well-coordinated, effective, and unified message to lawmakers and the general public.

While the mandatory nurse overtime legislation is still awaiting delivery to the Governor’s desk for action, LeadingAge NY members are strongly encouraged to write to the Governor’s office TODAY in opposition. The three bills could be delivered any day now, and the Governor may choose to act on them swiftly.

The new law prohibits hospitals, nursing homes, and health care professionals from collecting on money judgments for medical debt by entering a lien against a debtor's primary residence or garnishing the debtor's earnings.
