Health Care Worker Bonus Claiming Period Underway
Employers of workers eligible for the State’s Health Care Worker Bonus (HWB) program should submit claims for the fourth vesting period through the HWB portal by Oct. 31st. The fourth vesting period covers workers who were employed for the six-month period spanning April 1, 2023 through Sept. 3, 2023.
We remind members that providers who did not submit a claim for a qualified employee eligible for a bonus from a prior vesting period are able to file a late submission during this (or any) claiming period. However, because claims submitted more than 30 days after the vesting period ends are technically late for filing purposes, the Department of Health (DOH) recommends that employers document and retain information regarding the reason for any late submission. The process for correcting claim underpayments is outlined in the User Manual available once you have signed into the HWB Portal. Overpayments must be returned using the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) self-disclosure process described here.
