Remember to Register for the Free NYeC Webinar on Health Information Exchange Funding

The New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC) will be holding a free webinar to inform providers about updated requirements to qualify for health information exchange funding. The new requirements under the Data Exchange Incentive Program (DEIP) provide additional options for qualifying electronic health record (EHR) systems and should make funding available to more long-term/post-acute care providers. The new qualification standards for EHRs are summarized in an announcement here and are detailed for nursing homes here and for home care and hospice here.

This funding is intended to help defray the costs associated with complying with new health information exchange regulations. These regulations require nursing homes, home care agencies, hospice programs, and other providers that use “certified electronic health record technology” to connect to the State Health Information Network of New York (SHIN-NY) via regional health information organizations (RHIOs) by March 9, 2018. Waivers are available under certain circumstances that demonstrate hardship or limitations beyond the control of the provider.

The webinar will be held on Dec. 21, 2017 from 12 to 1 pm. Registration is available here.

More information about DEIP funding is available here. The SHIN-NY waiver guidance can be found here, and information about the regulations is available here.
