State to Host MPA Listening Session in Syracuse Aug. 24th

The NYS Department of Health (DOH) and Office for the Aging (SOFA) will host the next in a series of regional Master Plan for Aging (MPA) meetings on Aug. 24, 2023 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Vineyard Church, an accessible facility located at 312 Lakeside Road in Syracuse, allowing local providers and the public an opportunity to learn more about and weigh in on NY’s efforts to become the most age- and disability-friendly state in the nation.

Governor Hochul signed Executive Order 23 in November 2022 calling for the development of an MPA to improve the lives of today’s older adults and create a better system of care across the lifespan. The State has since gained momentum by establishing a Stakeholder Advisory Committeeissue-focused subcommittees, and more narrowly focused workgroups to help drive stakeholder recommendations that will inform the final MPA, expected in early 2025.

In addition to LeadingAge NY staff and member participation in the MPA workgroups, the State’s efforts to cultivate additional public feedback via these regional meetings, surveys, and outreach provide another welcome platform for provider members, their staff, residents, and families to ensure that the MPA is on the right track by contributing their extensive knowledge and experiences in senior care.

Registration is required to attend the Aug. 24th in-person-only Listening Session.

MPA Listening Sessions will not be recorded; however, recordings of MPA Town Hall events held in NYC, Albany, and Plattsburgh earlier this summer are available on the State's MPA website.

Keep up with all the news on the MPA, including future Town Hall and survey announcements, on LeadingAge NY’s website.
