NYS Announces Details for October Long Island, Queens MPA Town Halls

The NYS Department of Health (DOH) and Office for the Aging (SOFA) have announced the registration details for the next two events in a series of regional Master Plan for Aging (MPA) Town Halls, scheduled for Tues., Oct. 17th in Lynbrook and Wed., Oct. 18th in Flushing.

These live events allow local leaders, providers, and community members to learn more about and weigh in on the State’s coordinated effort to lead the nation in age- and disability-friendly policy. Registration is required to attend in person, and registration for previous regional Town Halls filled quickly, so we encourage all who are interested to sign up as soon as possible. However, you can also register to watch the live broadcast of the MPA Town Halls online.

  • The Long Island Town Hall is scheduled for Oct. 17th from 1-3 p.m. at the Temple Am Echad in Lynbrook. Register to attend in person or watch online.
  • The Queens Town Hall is scheduled for Oct. 18th from 5-7 p.m. at the Queens Library in Flushing. Register to attend in person or watch online.

As progress continues among the issue-focused MPA workgroups, the State is gaining momentum in soliciting public feedback on the process and ideal outcomes through regional Town Halls, surveys, and other outreach to ensure that the needs and solutions most appropriate for each community are incorporated into the final MPA.

Find more information on the full MPA Community Engagement schedule, and recordings of past events, on the State’s website here.
