MPA Community Engagement Efforts Continue with Announcement of Two NYC Town Halls

Registration information is now available for the next two in a series of Master Plan for Aging (MPA) community engagement events being hosted across the state by the NYS Department of Health (DOH) and Office for the Aging (SOFA).

Registration is required for these events, which will be broadcast live online to allow for greater participation:

  • The next Town Hall will be held in NYC on Tues., Jan. 9th from 3-5 p.m. at Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, located at 270 W. 89th Street. Register to attend in person or to view live online.
  • An additional Town Hall will take place in Brooklyn on Wed., Jan. 10th from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the Park Slope Center for Successful Aging, located at 463A 7th Street. Register to attend in person or to view live online.

The public engagement sessions are designed for New Yorkers to learn more about the status of the MPA and to provide their feedback on how the final plan could best serve the older adults in their communities, ultimately helping to drive the ongoing development of issue-focused stakeholder recommendations.

Final recommendations for the Governor’s consideration will be submitted in 2024, and the Governor is expected to issue the final MPA in early 2025.

Additionally, DOH and SOFA are asking for feedback via a statewide public survey to help shape the strategies and priorities of the MPA. Members are encouraged to complete the survey prior to the newly extended Jan. 31st deadline and to share widely among their staff, residents and families, and community networks to help ensure that the final MPA reflects and serves their needs.

Take the survey online, and find PDF versions of the survey in multiple languages here. Alternatively, those requiring bulk mailing of paper copies should reach out to MPA@health.ny.gov and specify their preferred language.
