CMS Issues New HHS Regulatory Reform Solicitation
(May 20, 2025) On May 14th, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a new solicitation seeking recommendations regarding regulations, regulatory guidance, and reporting or paperwork requirements that can be repealed. Comments are due July 14, 2025.
This Request for Information (RFI) joins an RFI previously released by HHS specific to the Medicare program in April. Unlike the prior HHS RFI, the latest RFI applies to all HHS regulations and guidance across all programs. According to the May 14th Federal Register notice, “HHS's goal is to address regulations that are unnecessary, inconsistent with the law, overly burdensome, outdated, out of alignment with current Executive orders, or otherwise unsound.”
LeadingAge National and LeadingAge NY will be submitting comments on both the Medicare-focused RFI and the broader RFI and previously submitted comments on an RFI released by the Office of Management and Budget. LeadingAge NY members are encouraged to submit their comments to HHS by July 14th by clicking the comment button here and/or to share them with LeadingAge NY here.
