DataPoint: Nursing Home Occupancy

Based on the most recently reported census data for each New York State skilled nursing facility (SNF), median occupancy is 94.1 percent, higher than national averages. Nationwide SNF occupancy decreased to 81.7 percent in the second quarter of 2017. While national occupancy continues to decrease, New York State regions have remained fairly consistent over the past year. Each region in New York State exceeded national averages. Homes in the New York City and Northeast New York regions reported median occupancy of 96.4 percent and 95.7 percent, respectively.
