DataPoint: Nursing Home Occupancy Update

Based on LeadingAge NY's analysis of the most recent nursing home weekly bed availability reporting data, median statewide occupancy is 94.0 percent, down from 94.4 percent in December 2017. The New York City region’s occupancy of 95.7 percent was the highest statewide, while the Northeast New York region ranked second with 94.6 percent. In contrast, the Buffalo region had the lowest occupancy at 91.9 percent. The occupancy rate for each New York State home is available here.

The New York State counties with the highest occupancy based on the most recently reported data were Otsego (97.7 percent), Rensselaer (97.5 percent), and Jefferson (97.1 percent). Half of the top 10 counties with the highest occupancy statewide were from the Northeast New York region. To view nursing home occupancy by county, click here.
