DataPoint: Nursing Home Occupancy Remains High

Based on the most recently reported nursing home bed availability data for every nursing home in the state, each of New York’s seven regions had median occupancy higher than 92 percent during the second half of 2017. The occupancy rate for each home in the state is available here. The regions with the highest median occupancies were the New York City region (96 percent) and the Northeastern New York region (95.6 percent). In four regions, median occupancy increased during the second half of 2017. The Buffalo region saw the biggest decrease in median occupancy, dropping 1.5 percent since the first half of 2017.
