DataPoint: Nursing Home Occupancy, June 2021

Based on LeadingAge NY's analysis of the most recent nursing home weekly bed availability reporting data, median occupancy was 84.1 percent statewide in June 2021, down 10.1 percent since December 2019, or pre-pandemic. Statewide, median occupancy increased by 3 percent during the first half of 2021. Five of seven New York State regions saw median occupancy increases from the end of 2020. The biggest regional median occupancy changes since December 2019 occurred in the Central New York and Long Island regions, with decreases of 12.3 and 11.8 percent, respectively. As of June 2021, the Northeast New York region had the highest median occupancy, 88.6 percent. The lowest median occupancy, 81.1 percent, occurred in the Central New York region.
