DataPoint: Medicaid’s Impact on Nursing Home Care

With approximately 1.4 million people living in nursing homes nationwide in 2015, Medicaid has remained the primary payer for nursing home care. New York State paid nearly $7 billion in 2015 for nursing home care for Medicaid recipients. Thirty percent of the state’s long term care spending was attributable to Medicaid. More information from the Kaiser Family Foundation on Medicaid and its relationship to nursing home care is available here.
