DataPoint: Decreasing COVID-19 Deaths in Nursing Homes

According to data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) analyzed by LeadingAge NY, weekly COVID-19-related deaths in nursing homes decreased by 86 percent from May 31, 2020 to March 7, 2021 nationwide. In addition, weekly nationwide COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes as a percentage of total deaths decreased from 47.7 percent on Dec. 20, 2020, the highest weekly death rate, to 9.3 percent on March 7, 2021.
