DataPoint: ACF Occupancy Update

Based on LeadingAge NY's analysis of the most recent Adult Care Facility (ACF) quarterly census reporting data, the statewide occupancy rate was 78.2 percent at the end of the third quarter of 2018. Three of four regions showed occupancy increases since the fourth quarter of 2017. The Capital Region’s 79.5 percent occupancy rate was the highest, followed by the New York metropolitan area’s 79.3 percent. In contrast, the Western New York region had the lowest occupancy rate (75.0 percent). Both Columbia and Franklin counties had occupancy rates of at least 95 percent, the highest individual county rates statewide. Of the counties with at least four ACFs, Sullivan and New York counties had the highest occupancy rates, both exceeding 90 percent. Sullivan County also reported the largest one-year occupancy percentage growth, increasing by over 23 percent.
