NH Pandemic Planning

On June 17, 2020, Governor Cuomo signed into law legislation requiring that each residential health care facility, by Sept. 15, 2020, prepare and make available to the public on the facility’s website, and immediately upon request, a Pandemic Emergency Plan (PEP). Changes in Nursing Home PPE Stockpile Requirements Approved by PHHPC

The Public Health and Health Planning Council approved a change in the methodology used to calculate nursing homes' stockpile inventory. Inventory requirements will be based on average census, rather than certified beds. The new regulation took effect on Jan. 26, 2023.

LeadingAge NY Urges DOH to Rightsize and Fund PPE Stockpile Requirements

In response to LeadingAge NY's advocacy, DOH sought input into a new methodology for calculating the required amounts of PPE in nursing home stockpiles. LeadingAge NY urged DOH to rightsize, and develop a plan to appropriately allocate, government stockpiles; adjust Medicaid rates to account for provider stockpile costs; and adopt a methodology for nursing homes that relies on average occupancy rather than certified beds.
