New updates pertaining to the COVID-19 emergency continue to be announced by both the state and federal government on a regular basis. The latest developments for providers of long-term/post-acute care (LTPAC) and senior services are outlined below.

As a reminder, LeadingAge NY continues to convene weekly webinars on Mondays at 11 a.m. to address emerging questions on COVID-19. A recording of our most recent webinar, held on Dec. 19th, is available here, and a list of the items shared by LeadingAge NY staff in the webinar chat can be accessed here. If you have questions for next week’s update, which will be held on Tues., Dec. 27th at 1 p.m. due to the Christmas holiday, or would like the access information, please contact Jeff Diamond.

Cross-Sector Updates

Save the Date: Feb. 2nd Webinar on Provider Relief Funding Reporting

LeadingAge National is sponsoring a webinar on Thurs., Feb. 2nd from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on revised reporting requirements for recipients of federal Provider Relief Funding (PRF) as well as American Rescue Plan (ARP) Rural payments. These will impact reporting periods that start on or after Jan. 1, 2023. Providers who receive more than $10,000 during a specified period are required to report. The next reporting window is open from Jan. 1, 2023 through March 31, 2023 for funds received in the second half of calendar year (CY) 2021. The webinar will:

  • Provide a reporting refresher on what expenses and lost revenues can be funded with PRF and ARP Rural payments;
  • Review the new reporting requirements and the interplay between ARP Rural and PRF payments;
  • Discuss strategies providers should consider for the remaining reporting periods; and
  • Highlight common reporting mistakes and audit findings seen to date.

No HERDS Required on Observed Christmas and New Year’s Holidays

LeadingAge NY would like to ensure that nursing home and ACF/AL members saw the notice from DOH last week indicating that the daily Health Emergency Response Data System (HERDS) survey will not be required on the observed Christmas and New Year’s holidays (Dec. 26th and Jan. 2nd). Reporting had already been paused on Christmas and New Year’s Day due to those days falling on the weekend.

The survey will resume on the Tuesday following the observed holiday (Dec. 27th and Jan. 3rd).
