Additional Grant Opportunities of Potential Interest to LeadingAge NY Members

LeadingAge NY members should be aware of the following grant opportunities of potential interest:

  1. Funding for Olmstead Housing Subsidy/Rapid Transition Housing Program

The New York State Department of Health (DOH) is issuing this Request for Application (RFA) to seek applications from Eligible Applicants for funds to be used to provide permanent rental subsidies and housing tenancy services to provide housing for vulnerable Medicaid members without housing. One (1) award will be made, and the awarded applicant (Grantee) must use the funding to administer both programs statewide.

PLEASE NOTE: Letter of Interest is not required. Though, Prospective Applicants are strongly encouraged to complete and submit a letter of interest. Questions are due 1/10/24 and answers will be posted on or about 1/19/24. Please see RFA for further info.   1. Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program

The Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) recently announced an opportunity to apply for funding under the Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP). The purpose of the GWEP is to educate and train the health care and supportive care workforces to care for older adults by collaborating with community partners. Applicants must maximize patient and family engagement to address care gaps and improve health outcomes for older adults by integrating geriatrics with primary care and other appropriate specialties using the Age-Friendly Health Systems Framework.

The following entities are eligible to apply:

  • Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (other than institutions of higher education)
  • Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (other than institutions of higher education)
  • Native American tribal organizations (other than federally recognized tribal governments)
  • Native American tribal governments (federally recognized)
  • Others (Additional information on eligibility can be found at the link below)

  1. Services to Older Refugees Program

In the Spring of 2024, The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, Bureau of Refugee Services will be releasing a Request for Proposals for an upcoming Grant Opportunity for the Services to Older Refugees Program.   1. Child Care Capital Program (CCCP)

The Child Care Capital Program (CCCP) will award grants to eligible child care providers to expand existing child care centers or build new ones. The program will be overseen by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY).

The CCCP will provide reimbursement grants for the design, construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation, equipment and other capital assets for existing or proposed state-licensed, not-for-profit or for-profit child day care centers and registered school-age child care programs. The facility must be intended to be used as a child care program for at least eight years. Projects must be shovel-ready, demonstrate the ability to be licensed and fully operational within six months of completing construction and worth at least $500,000
