With Election Day fast approaching, nursing homes should consider reviewing guidance concerning their residents' right to vote and facilities' obligations to support voting access, while avoiding improper influence.

The new guidance reduces work exclusion periods for staff with respiratory viruses, such as COVID-19, flu, RSV, and rhinovirus. It is unclear whether NYS is following the new guidance.

Medicare coverage for certain lawfully present non-citizens will terminate on Jan. 4, 2027. In NYS, State-funded Medicaid coverage should be available for these individuals, if they meet other eligibility criteria.

The annual reporting requirement includes the LHCSA registration process; reports are due by Dec. 31, 2026.
