As we prepare for the rapidly approaching 2022 New York State Legislative Session, it is vital that members are connecting with lawmakers, conveying what you are experiencing in the field, and laying the foundation for our SFY 2022 budget advocacy.

LeadingAge NY is partnering with a new group of nursing home resident family members in advocating for increased wages for nursing home direct care staff, to be funded in full through an increase in Medicaid reimbursement.

Following up on a prior letter criticizing the omission of LTC from the State's $17 billion Medicaid waiver concept paper, LeadingAge NY wrote to the State's Medicaid Director recommending specific modifications to address the needs of older adults and strengthen the LTC system.

LeadingAge NY's testimony focuses on the inadequacy of Medicaid rates, the lack of State support for long term care during the pandemic, and the resulting workforce shortages. The hearing was postponed until Nov. 1^st due to severe weather predictions.
