LeadingAge National Partners with Pathway Health on Facility Assessment Education

(May 7, 2024) While the first actual minimum staffing provisions do not kick in for two years or more, the federal nursing home minimum staffing rule due to be formally published in the Federal Register later this week will require providers to meet some new standards within 90 days. Changes to facility assessment requirements are slated to go into effect on Aug. 28th. Starting on that date, the facility assessment will need to include a formalized staffing plan to maximize recruitment and retention, address staffing for all shifts/days of the week, and be adjustable for things like changes in the resident population, behavioral health issues, and staff skill sets. To help members prepare, LeadingAge National is partnering with Pathway Health on a webinar scheduled for May 15th from 2-3:30 p.m. The session will provide a detailed overview of the new facility assessment requirements and help participants prepare their staff and organization for the upcoming changes. Registration is available here.

In addition, LeadingAge National has posted a recording and related materials from the April 30th staffing mandate webinar that provided a general overview of the federal staffing rule. The webinar is available on the LeadingAge Learning Hub and is free for members. Those who did not register to attend the live session just need to add the session to their Hub dashboard to access it.
