DOH webinar clarifies new methodology that the Department is using to assess nursing home staffing penalties and provides insights on their formulaic approach to penalty reductions.

Determinations will impact nursing home staffing penalty reduction requests for calendar year 2024.

DOH will host a webinar on Fri., Feb. 20^th to review the requirements and implementation of the NYS minimum nursing staffing standards for nursing homes.

DOH has issued nursing home staffing penalty letters to 20 providers and intends to issue others on a rolling basis.

Compliance letters covering the first quarter of 2024 may be posted as early as this week.

NY's nursing home staffing standards remain in effect.

Homes wishing to submit redetermination or penalty reduction requests for staffing compliance letters issued on Sept. 25^th should do so by Thursday.

Letters indicating whether the home was in compliance with minimum staffing standards during the fourth quarter of 2023 were posted to the HCDMS on Sept. 25^th.
