CMS Updates Temporary Pause in SNF Care Compare Refreshes

(Sept. 12, 2025) In a memo released on Sept. 10, 2025, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced an update to the pause for the Nursing Home Care Compare refresh. CMS will update Nursing Home Care Compare to reflect changes based on findings from Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ) and schizophrenia coding audits, as well as Special Focus Facility (SFF) status, on Sept. 24, 2025. All other information will continue to be based on the July 30, 2025 refresh, including health inspection star ratings.
