OIG Seeks NH Rehospitalization Rate QM

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) recently completed a study entitled Medicare Nursing Home Resident Hospitalization Rates Merit Additional Monitoring. In its comments on the draft report, OIG recommends that CMS develop a quality measure that describes nursing home resident hospitalization rates and consider publicly reporting this measure on the Nursing Home Compare website.

Antipsychotic Drug Use in Nursing Homes Trend Update

The National Partnership to Improve Dementia Care in Nursing Homes has released the latest trend update to reflect the progress of their initiative to decrease antipsychotic use in nursing homes.  There has been an overall average decline in antipsychotic usage nationally of 11.43 percent.
