ICD-10 Finally Here

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued Medlearn Matters article SE1522, entitled: Claims Submission Alternatives for Providers Who Have Difficulties Submitting ICD-10 Claims.  As you know, after many delays and false starts, the International Classification of Diseases 10th revision (ICD-10) became effective this month.  The goal of this special edition Medlearn Matters article is to assist in avoiding claims processing disruptions by providing information for providers who have difficulties submitting ICD-10 claims due to being unable to complete necessary systems changes or having issues with billing software, vendor(s), or clearinghouse(s).

Among the options covered in this guidance are:

-          Free billing software;

-          Provider internet portals;

-          Direct Data Entry (DDE); and

-          Paper claims.

Please refer to the CMS guidance for more details.  LeadingAge New York wants to hear from our members on how the transition is progressing.  Please let us know if you are experiencing any problems with ICD-10.
