CMS Seeking Comments on Impact of Proposed Nursing Home Rules

In a proposed regulation dealing with SNF payment and quality measure issues that will be published in the Federal Register on Thurs., May 4th, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) states that it is also soliciting comments regarding potential changes to the recently finalized Requirements for Long-Term Care Facilities that would result in a burden reduction if modified or eliminated. In view of the many operational challenges posed by the revised Requirements of Participation (RoPs), LeadingAge intends to provide comments to CMS on behalf of the membership with respect to this aspect of the proposed rule.

LeadingAge National has asked for member input on what provisions of the revised RoPs rule would reduce the operational burden if they were modified or eliminated and why that would be the case. Please try to be as specific as possible regarding the effect of modification or elimination.

Please direct all comments to jhilliard@leadingage.org no later than June 19th.

An advanced copy of the proposed rule is available here (294 pages).
