Nursing Homes and ACFs Encouraged to Register for Disaster Mental Health, CEMP, and eFINDS Trainings

LeadingAge NY would like to ensure that nursing home and adult care facility (ACF) members are aware of an upcoming webcast training with leaders from the NYS Department of Health (DOH) Office of Health Equity and Human Rights, the NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) Bureau of Emergency Preparedness and Response, and the American Red Cross regarding disaster mental health and disaster response in NYS. During the webcast on Fri., May 3rd from 10-11:30 a.m., the leaders will discuss how they prepare, deploy, and manage personnel throughout an operation, with focus on disaster mental health, as well as specific examples of successful responses, lessons learned, and operational improvements planned for the future. A flyer with more information is available here, and the link to register through the DOH Learning Management System (LMS) is here.

Members should also note the availability of a training on the LMS to assist nursing homes and ACFs in developing their Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP), as well as two upcoming trainings on the NYS Evacuation of Facilities in Disasters Systems (eFINDS), the patient/resident tracking application housed on the Health Commerce System (HCS). The eFINDS trainings will be held on Wed., May 22nd from 10-11 a.m. and Mon., June 24th from 2-3 p.m.; registration is available here on the LMS and should be completed at least two days in advance.
