Opportunity to Learn About the New Medicare Card
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will host an Open Door Forum to educate Medicaid stakeholders, including providers and Managed Care Organizations, about impending changes to Medicare identifiers. CMS is shifting from Social Security Number-based Health Insurance Claim Numbers to new Medicare Beneficiary Identifiers (MBIs) beginning this year. The event will feature the same presentation used in November and will cover background and implementation, the MBI format, timelines and milestones, beneficiary outreach and education, and information on how to get ready for the change.
