The CDC will host a webinar on Jan. 27^th that will “provide the latest information on how to prevent and respond to respiratory infections and outbreaks in LTC facilities, including how to recognize a sick resident, considerations for testing, treatment, and vaccination, and infection prevention and control measures.” The agency also continues to update resources on respiratory infections that will be helpful for nursing homes and other providers in addressing flu, COVID, and RSV outbreaks this winter.

DOH, in partnership with OVS, is reminding health care providers and facilities about the OVS reimbursement program for victims of crime for their out-of-pocket, crime-related expenses.

The guidelines include recommendations addressing 42 topics and can serve as a resource for nursing homes in the development, implementation, and improvement of their infection prevention and control programs.

The 23-module training is free and helps satisfy requirements from CMS that nursing homes designate an individual to serve as Infection Preventionist who meets specific education and experience requirements and has completed specialized training in infection prevention and control.
